What's Your Story?

I'm Susan Binger, and I founded Anchored in Grace Foundation because I’ve lived this story - both as an oncology nurse for over 30 years and as someone who’s lost loved ones to cancer, including my grandfather, several family members, and even one of my bridesmaids. These experiences shaped my belief that no one should have to face the physical, emotional, and financial toll of cancer alone.
I was born and raised in Wilson County and now live in neighboring Nash County—two of the communities Anchored in Grace serves, along with Edgecombe County. This region is home, and I’ve seen firsthand how cancer can hit especially hard in rural areas, where resources can be limited and the journey even more overwhelming. That’s why our work begins with a simple but powerful question: What’s your story? Because behind every diagnosis is a life, a family, and a need to be seen, supported, and reminded they’re not alone.
The name Anchored in Grace reflects the strength and steadiness I’ve found in both faith and community. It all began with a quiet “God Wink”- a conversation with a lifelong friend that felt like more than coincidence and confirmed I was being called to create this foundation.
That's my story; I'd love to hear yours!
